Six major projects lined up for Health Ministry
The Ministry of Health and Medical Services has a total of six major capital projects lined up for this year.
Assistant Health Minister Veena Bhatnagar says these include the extension, relocation and improvement of health centres and hospitals around Fiji.
Bhatnagar says 2016 will see the completion of the new Ba Hospital, one of the biggest projects for the Health Ministry.
She adds the Makoi Health Centre birthing unit will also be completed by September and the Naulu Health Centre in Nakasi is also being upgraded.
“Naulu Health Centre, we also plan to complete this by the end of this year. A contractor has been appointed. There are other projects. The Saint Giles Hospital, the maintenance and repair works is already in progress and it might be completed by May this year and Lautoka ANE to be completed by March 2016.”
The assistant Minister also says the new Nausori Hospital project is in its preparatory stage and work will start later this year.
The hospital will be situated at the Vunivivi Hill in Nausori and will take two years to complete.
