PMC to teach business skills to women entrepreneurs

The PMC has also decided to set up permanent market places for the women self-help groups at various places in the city.

IN an effort to empower women in the city by raising their financial situation, the Pune Municipal Corporation has decided to start a skill development programme for women self-help groups. Women entrepreneurs would be taught marketing and business skills as part of the programme.

“The proposal for training women self-help groups was approved by the women and child welfare committee. The standing committee too gave its consent as the PMC initiative would benefit a large number of women self-help groups operating in the city,” said Ashwini Kadam, chairperson of standing committee, on Wednesday.

Kadam said that the PMC would appoint a professional agency to carry out the responsibility and hold training sessions for the representatives of these groups on business-related skills like ways to raise money, market study, packaging for products, deciding price for products.
